Jamali Makaki is a 15 year old boy. He lives with his single mother Salima who is currently unemployed. He is the eldest of 5 children.

As the oldest there is pressure for him to leave school and work to help support the family. It is a struggle for him to stay in school due to finances being limited. He helps his mother out as much as he can. He doesn't want to drop out of school. He hopes one day to finish school and create a better lifestyle for his family.He wants to be an example to his younger siblings.
